VW Fuel Pump Rebuild Kit (1300cc-1600cc) – 111-198-555

Keep your fuel system pressurized and leak-free with this high-quality Fuel Pump Rebuild Kit. Specifically engineered for the later 1300cc to 1600cc air-cooled engines, this kit fits the standard "generator" or "alternator" style fuel pumps. Over time, the internal rubber diaphragm can become brittle or tear due to heat and modern fuel additives, leading to a loss of fuel pressure or gas leaking into your engine oil.

The 111-198-555 provides a cost-effective way to restore your original fuel pump's performance without replacing the entire unit. By rebuilding your factory pump, you ensure the correct fuel pressure is maintained for your Solex or replacement carburetor, preventing the flooding or starvation issues often associated with low-quality aftermarket pumps.

Detailed Vehicle Compatibility This kit fits the standard slip-on hose style fuel pumps found on these models:

Installation & Maintenance Tips Pushrod Inspection: When rebuilding the pump, always inspect the fuel pump pushrod. For these later engines, the pushrod should be 100mm (approximately 4 inches). If it is significantly shorter due to wear, the pump will not stroke fully.

Star-Pattern Tightening: When reassembling the pump body, tighten the top screws in a cross or star pattern to ensure the diaphragm is pinched evenly, creating a perfect vacuum seal.

Avoid Over-Torquing: The fuel pump body is made of soft metal. Over-tightening the mounting nuts can crack the pump base or the Bakelite pedestal underneath.

Prime the Pump: After installation, it may take several engine rotations to prime the pump. You can speed up the process by filling the carburetor float bowl through the vent tube with a small amount of fresh fuel.
